What’s Up With This Guy? Overview

What’s Up With This Guy? is a PBL project that can be found in PBL In The Elementary Grades book published by the Buck Institute.

Project Summary: Students playing the role of medical school students gather information from a patient who describes symptoms that lead them to suspect a problem with the circulatory or respiratory system. After lessons in which they learn about these systems, students work in teams to research additional information so they can make a preliminary diagnosis. They present their analysis and conclusions to a panel of adults in the role of medical school professors. (PBL in the Elementary Grades p. 180)

When our 4th grade science teacher asked me for a PBL on the human body, I was thrilled that I had the opportunity to share this great project with her. She immediately jumped on board.

The next series of blog posts will take you behind the scenes in order to show you the PBL process.
